The cycle of conferences Immaginare il futuro. Conversazioni sui grandi cambiamenti e le sfide del domani (Imagining the future. Conversations about the great changes and challenges of tomorrow) promoted by Intesa Sanpaolo is back to Turin with the Bengali Nobel Prize, economist and banker Muhammad Yunus.
The event on the theme ““La sfida dei tre zeri: un futuro senza povertà, disoccupazione e inquinamento”(The challenge of the three zeros: a future without poverty, unemployment and pollution) will take place next Thursday, May 17 at 6.30 pm in the Auditorium of the skyscraper.
Poverty is increasing everywhere in the world, unemployment is emarginating young people and uncontrolled industrial production is destroying the environment. However, according to Muhammad Yunus, a new economic model already exists and represents the answer to the economy based on personal interests and inequality. Yunus shows that eliminating inequalities created by unbridled capitalism with the resources of everyday life is possible. These are the themes at the center of his new book soon to be published in Italy.
In 1977 Muhammad Yunus founded the Grameen Bank, an independent credit institution that practices micro-credit without guarantees. Today Grameen, in addition to being present in thousands of villages in Bangladesh, is found in dozens of countries around the world. In 2004 Yunus received an honorary degree from the University of Florence, while in 2006 he received the Nobel Peace Prize.
The conference, lasting about 50 minutes, will be held in English with simultaneous translation.

Immaginare il futuro, a project conceived by Giulia Cogoli Comunicazione for Intesa Sanpaolo, is part of the strategic program of activities carried out in the skyscraper, three years after its opening.
Adopting a prospective approach, the conferences will deal with diverse disciplines – such as history, economics, sociology and urban planning – to investigate the changes that await us which include the way we will live and communicate, the impact of technology on our lives, medical and scientific discoveries. The cycle of conferences, which started last October with the historian Timothy Garton Ash, will continue on May 29 with the sociologist Richard Sennett – La città aperta. Presente e futuro della vita urbana (The open city. Present and future of urban life) then with a new event on October 25 with the physicist Guido Tonelli.
